In Beth Myers' "face" series, the viewer steps into a world of lounge lizards, dreamers, and thinkers. Her subjects, whether they are softly painted or bold, reflect innocence, mischievousness and humor. Her hope is that this will translate to the viewer in a personal way.

"I paint from my imagination using both brush and knife to apply acrylics and oils in thick layers and thin glazes. For me, the work is all about the process. I will scratch and even peel back the paint, allowing unexpected images to emerge. Bits of collage elements may also be found in the many layers. This layering technique creates depth, texture and a bit of whimsy. I find that if I remain spontaneous, the experience is always joyful, exhilarating and interesting."
